Lindy Center Events

The Lindy Center supports student civic engagement by providing a variety of opportunities to learn with and from campus and community partners, resources to engage in self-guided learning, and a physical space to be in community with fellow students and feel a sense of belonging. The Lindy Center hosts both recurring and one-time events throughout the year.

If you'd like to stay informed about our events, sign up for our newsletter, check out our Dragon Link page, and follow us on Instagram

Below is a sampling of recurrent events we generally host - but please use the tools above to stay up-to-date with our actual event calendar.

  • First Fridays showcase the important work being done by local community organizations and campus partners to promote civic engagement and social change. The first Friday of each term, we invite a different partner to share their projects, initiatives, and programs that are making a difference in our community.
  • Talking Tuesdays are designed to provide a space for students to come together and engage in meaningful conversations about issues that matter. Each month, we focus on a different topic related to civic engagement, such as student advocacy or mentorship.
  • Collaborative events with civic-focused student organizations
  • From Issue to Action invites activists and community organizers within the Drexel community to share their real-life experiences of how they went from identifying an issue to taking action.
  • Throughout Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Week of Reflection and Service, the Lindy Center hosts educational and reflective events that explore civil rights advocacy with the aim to inspire individuals to become agents of social change. The Lindy Center also supports service and other events throughout the University. Our 2024 MLK Week page can be found here
  • Welcome Week is a campus-wide initiative to welcome new students to Drexel and Philadelphia. Each year, the Lindy Center invites students to participate in events that highlight civic engagement on campus and get to know West Philly. 2023 events include an open house with topical workshops, community cookout in collaboration with the Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, discussion with current Lindy student Leaders about involvement opportunities, and one-on-one civic consultations.

Join us and Foundations of Happy Eating (FOHE)'s for Penne for Your Thoughts! The idea behind the event is to host a family-style meal that offers an open space for reflection and discussion about the challenges of transitioning to independent eating. We will discuss topics such as the lack of nutrition education in K-12 schools and how this has impacted your experience as a now college student. As a nonprofit startup focused on improving 'happy' eating habits, we would like to use this time to gather feedback so YOU can help us best address these issues! Please read the following to ensure everyone is able to have a safe and enjoyable time at the event. FOOD: At this time, we are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions such as gluten-free or vegan diets--we are planning to serve pesto pasta with chicken and garlic bread. All of the ingredients will be listed in person or can be requested ahead of time (just dm us!) If you cannot eat what we are planning to serve, please feel free to bring your own lunch and or just come for the discussion! We would love to have you. RSVP COMMITMENT: RSVP REQUIRED via Google Form: https://forms.gle/m88VaHxjJXrmvd2v7 Due to the fact that we are a small startup with limited resources at this time, we ask that participants commit to their RSVP and let us know ASAP if plans change so that we are able to provide a full meal for all attendees.
